Tero Pitkämäki starts the season with two first place finishes in Australia
Tero Pitkämäki started the competitive season with a practice session in Australia. Pitkämäki competed in two Australian Athletics Tour events and won both of them.In the first competition in Sydney, Tero threw 84.64 on his first attempt, enough for the victory. All his other attempts – except for one with a foot fault – were also over 80 metres.
In the second competition, Tero continued his good performance and threw more than 83 metres three times. The winning result, 83.32, was his fifth attempt.
Tero’s feelings after the successful training session:
“The month-long training session in Australia is now over. I had three weeks of rigorous practice followed by two competitions during the last week, in Sydney and Melbourne. All in all, I have a good feeling about the trip. The practices went well and the competitions as expected – I won both. Now I have good starting points for the next training session in Portugal, which starts in early May. I have no negative comments about the trip, except for a minor ankle sprain at the very beginning. The injury bothered my practicing a little for a few days. I had no other problems, and I was already able to throw without feeling any pain in the competitions.”
